Bet365 and Play’n Go Secure Licenses to Operate in Greece
28.06.2024
Bet365 and Play’n Go have both been granted permits to operate in Greece. Bet365 can now provide wagering and gaming services within the nation, joining Betsson as one of the initial firms to secure a license. Play’n Go is the first vendor to be authorized under the new Greek rules.
The new regulations are stringent, with restrictions on online slot machines. Players are only permitted to wager a maximum of €2 per spin, and each spin must last at least 3 seconds. The maximum win per spin is €70,000. Operators are also required to pay a 35% tax on their total gaming income.
Magnus Olsson, Head of Sales and Customer Management at Play’n Go, stated that the company welcomes the new rules and will collaborate with its partners to ensure compliance.
Olson emphasized that he believes the capacity of vendors to adjust games to align with local regulations will aid them in distinguishing themselves within the industry.
“We take immense pride in our games,” he stated. “But we also aim to go above and beyond.”
“Our meticulous approach to adherence and game creation guarantees that our collaborators can depend on us to provide entertainment content that is prepared for players to relish in various markets from the initial day of worldwide distribution.
“However, for players to genuinely appreciate the gaming experience, they must feel secure. That’s why we are truly delighted to personalize our games to ensure they adhere to all local rules in regulated markets across the globe.”
Greece’s licensing framework commenced in October of the previous year, following the country’s legislative body’s passage of a gambling reform bill in 2019.
