The Kentucky Lottery has declared that its revenue hit a record-breaking $1.45 billion (£1.05 billion/€1.22 billion) during the 2021 financial year, which spanned from July 2020 to May 2021.

The lottery’s revenue has already surpassed the $1.2 billion mark for the entirety of the 2020 financial year, with sales data for the concluding month of this financial year still pending.

Sales for the 2021 financial year witnessed a 35.3% or $379.4 million surge compared to the corresponding period in 2020, exceeding the operator’s budget by $284 million or 24.3%.

Instant scratch-off tickets continued to be the primary catalyst for lottery sales growth, with sales reaching $880.6 million by the end of the quarter. This signifies a 34.1% increase in scratch-off ticket sales compared to the same period last year.

Online instant games generated an additional $105.5 million in revenue, while overall iLottery sales experienced an $84.4 million increase from the preceding year. Instant games now occupy the operator’s third-largest sales product position, trailing behind scratch-off tickets and Pick 3.
