Boyd Gaming Makes Major Play for Online Gambling Dominance with $1.7 Billion Pala Interactive Acquisition
16.06.2024
A major casino player, Boyd Gaming, is taking a significant step into the internet gambling arena. They are investing a substantial $1.7 billion to purchase Pala Interactive, a company making its mark in the digital gaming industry.
This goes beyond simply adding another name to their collection. Boyd Gaming’s chief executive, Keith Smith, views this as a calculated maneuver to capitalize on the flourishing online wagering market. Leveraging Pala Interactive’s technological capabilities, offerings, and know-how, Boyd Gaming aspires to become a dominant force in the online gambling realm.
This action follows a robust third quarter for Boyd Gaming. Their earnings surged by 4% compared to the previous year, hitting $877 million. They also secured a considerable $1.57 billion in earnings, demonstrating their strong financial footing to undertake this ambitious acquisition.
Boyd Gaming, holding a 5% stake in FanDuel and already dabbling in sports wagering with its Boyd Sports label within its ten Las Vegas gambling venues, is poised for a significant expansion. They’ve forged an agreement with FanDuel to oversee all of Boyd’s physical and digital sports betting operations across eight of the nine states in which they hold a presence. This collaborative endeavor is slated to commence in the early months of the following year and is anticipated to witness a substantial surge in FanDuel’s footprint throughout the Boyd casino domain.
